The Android operating system has plenty of apps that can run directly on the TV, supporting nearly every streaming service available.
More expensive TVs from Samsung, LG, and Sony often use their own operating system with less features than Android. Buying a Roku or a Chromecast can add functionality to a TV, but having Android or a Roku already built-in means the TV's smart functionality works directly on the TV instead of tuning to a HDMI port.
