Walmart To Start Selling Cars
Beginning April 1, Walmart will start selling cars at 25 Walmart Super Centers, with the initial phase beginning in Houston, Dallas, Oklahoma City and Phoenix. Walmart did a trial run of this program last year in Stuart Florida, the program was successful, and customers saved on average $3,000 per vehicle according to the articles. If all works out as planned, the number of stores and cities will be expanded over the next two (2) years until it is nationwide. Walmart will be acting as the middleman in their car sells, with partners including AutoNation, CarSaver, and local dealerships. Both new and used cars will be available. A "success fee" of $350 will be paid to the CarSaver program. I wasn't able to find any clarity as to if the $350 fee is charged to the dealership or customer. Common sense says that since Walmart is selling the car for the dealerships, that it would be charged to the dealerships, but NEVER take anything for granted. Ask!
