After eighteen Marvel films over the past ten years, Avengers: Infinity War is the nineteenth movie in the Marvel franchise. It also brings together (almost) every Marvel hero we've seen on the movie screen prior to this film and pays off the larger overarching story of Thanos collecting all of the Infinity Stones with the goal of wiping out half the universe (!). The moviegoing audience has never seen a superhero movie with this kind of scale and ambition before and this movie was highly anticipated as a result.
