For what it's worth, I really loved Nier:Automata. I watched some gameplay videos of the original Nier, but wasn't even able to play it myself. I'm enjoying this game (about 1.5 hours in), but the pacing is much slower than Nier:Automata thus far. Performance has been great, no crashes, amazing music. Gets a very positive rating from me so far.
