Columbus will have nonstop service to Sarasota from Rickenbacker Airport from Allegiant

Columbus will get nonstop service to another popular Florida vacation spot in April, when Allegiant begins service to Sarasota from Rickenbacker Airport.

The ultra-low cost carrier will launch twice-weekly flights, on Thursdays and Sundays, starting April 4.

Tickets are on sale now at the carrier's website, Allegiant.com. Fares start at $55 each way.

Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport will be the 11th destination for Allegiant from Rickenbacker, located southeast of Downtown. Allegiant is the only regularly scheduled passenger carrier at the airport, which serves as a cargo shipping hub.
