Thumb Score: -1 Lenovo are selling their "entry level" Threadripper Pro workstations with big discounts. The base machine is available for $1936, with an additional 5% off for students or teachers or anyone signing up for the business discount. This is about $1400 off the MSRP. The 3945WX Threadripper is the lowest level of Threaderipper Pro, but it's a beast. It's performance in a lot gaming benchmarks sits between a 5600x and a 5900x. But it's the extensibility of these machines which is mind blowing. They can be upgraded to use 8 channels of memory and hold 2 TB of RAM. And if you really want to build an insane system leverage every extension, storage device and network add in card, the Threadripper Pros have 128 gen 4 PCIe lanes (that compares to just 20 PCIe lanes on a standard x570 motherboard).
